The ranks of the Munaqabaat

I’ve done it. I’ve officially joined the ranks of the veiled – the Munaqabaat.

Alhamdulilah, after much thinking and much supplication to Allah that he gives me the strength to go through with this, I’ve finally taken the major step.

Unofficially I was a Niqaabi for the past two years. However, I was a non-relative Niqaabi, although I covered my face everywhere, I wouldn’t cover in front of my brother-in-laws or my [male] cousins.

I know it’s going to be difficult, considering one of my brother-in-law is staying over at our place for a while and especially when I visit Pakistan, but I’d reached a point where I felt guilty and the need to take another step up the ladder. Non-Mehram men are non-mehram after all. I’m hoping I can use Ramadan to strenghten myself in this step.

InshaAllah khayr, keep me in your du’as!

Verily, along with every hardship is relief. [5:94]

I should stop hoping for any serious comments from you.

lol well im sure you already know very well that what youre doing is very brave and extraordinary etc etc, so whats the point in saying something you already know!

or i could say ‘keep it up’ or something, but im already pretty sure that inshallah you will keep it up, so whats the point in saying that!

so, are you sure its not a ninja club? maybe a top secret arab ninja club?? :P

Well if you put it that way… I’m glad you didn’t comment then. :P

lol, I wish it was! That would be utterly cool.

[On a much more serious note, keep me in your duas man. Seriously.]

Really? MashAllah, that would be cool.

Oh a more curious and random note [you dont have to answer this on here if you dont want to], have you discussed this with P?

From my experience, very few Pakistani Men are okay about it… but if hes supportive that would be really awesome. [And I hope hes of the few... :) ]

    Cool.

By the way, I liked the earlier name of your blog better. Way better!

Congrats. MashaAllah you are 100% following Sharai Pardah. Wearing Scarf around head does not come under the category of Hijab prescribed by Quran and Sunnah.

Don’t worry about the people who make fun of you. May Allah give you strength.Ameen

If someone act like a moron then give such a hard punch that the person starts covering the face due to after effects of your punch :-)

Masha Allah, what a huge step you’ve taken. Not showing your face to male cousins and brothers in law is quite difficult… I am totally impressed. :-D

Cool. Purple Drifter’s my sister now ;-)

May Allah give you the maximum reward for this step.

And Insha’Allah, it will get only easier. Its the hardest the first time. Then everyone starts taking it in their stride.

I don’t blog here anymore, but jazakAllah khair :) ) I appreciate it, and yes it was a bit difficult at first but alhamdulilah its gotten really easier.

Oh, so you’ve started it too? :P MashaAllah congrats!

      • 20 Specs October 12, 2009 at 5:53 pm

Been doing it for what…8 years now. ;-)

        • 21 PD October 12, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Oh wow, mashaAllah, 8 years?? Do you do it infront of your cousins/brother in laws too? I’m really not looking forward to visiting Pak now, because I know covering my face infront of them is going to be a tad bit difficult but inshaAllah khayr.

How do the people usually react in isloo seeing a Niqabi? :P We should talk!! :)
